Is it possible to dye a rose blue?

This may be a stupid question but is it possible to dye a red rose blue with food coloring or some other hosehold item?

Is it possible to dye a rose blue?
Use a white flowering plant. If you use a food safe dye it will work without killing the plant. Make a small cut near the base of the stem you want to dye. Place a few drops of food color into the cut. Seal with a florist tape if you need to. The color should appear within 48 hours. It's best if you let the plant dry out for a few days first. It will be thirsty and absorb faster.
Reply:i doubt if you can get it to turn blue - it would turn purple. There are blue roses out there - a pale blue that is really sweet.
Reply:Buddy, use a white rose, not a red rose.
Reply:sure just put it in blue water as it drinks it will change

BEST FOR WHITE ROSE RED ROSE WILL PROBABLY TURN PURPLE
Reply:no it will turn purple not blue but you can turn a white rose blue with blue food coloring in the water! or any color for that matter, as long as you have that color food coloring and put it in the water, hey you might try adding the center of a dried up marker to the water to see if the color will seep into the water and then int the flower, really with that idea the colors are endless.
Reply:Yes, Put a white rose in water with blue food coloring and as it drinks the water it will turn blue.
Reply:no it will die
Reply:I know you can dye a white carnation blue if you put some blue food coloring in the water. It would probably work for a white rose too.
