What's the best way to preserve a rose?

I was given a beautiful rose a few days ago as a gift, and I'd like to keep it, rather than just throw it away. Should I put it in between the pages of a large book? Should I keep it in the freezer? Any other suggestions?

What's the best way to preserve a rose?
While the rose is still fresh, remove greenery, hang upside down in a cool dark place and leave for about two weeks. I have done this many times and it works. If you put between pages of a book it will be crushed. Flat flowers are best for that Pansies, Forget Me Nots ...etc. I use a clothes pin to hold the flower on a wire hanger or a skirt hanger works well.. Good Luck
Reply:buy BORAX. pour a small amount in the bottlom of an empty coffee can. place the rose in the can and carefully fill over the rose(unless its long stem - put it open end up so borax can get into open end of flower)

leave it there for several weeks
Reply:i just hang mine upside down to dry. when i got long stemmed roses and they were held upright by wires. you can make your own - thin green/clear 6 inch holder- and display it in a bud vase.
Reply:pour wax over it ,it will look like new and still look pretty .nobody thought of that huh :)
Reply:If you use clean cat litter, the dehydrating kind that looks like sand it should dry the rose intact. They make a spray to preserve silk flowers that is not shiny that would be good to use after the rose is dry.
